Today we will talk about 'Hashimoto's thyroiditis', a pathology unfortunately well known to many women and for which I receive many requests for information and help. Just a few days ago I attended the 'VIII International Mycotherapy Congress' which was held in Manizales (Colombia) from 24th to 27th August 2015. In the presence of the most important scientists in the sector and professors from universities around the world, I presented the results of my scientific research work that document the healing of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis with the administration of Medicinal Mushrooms. The results that I presented to the international scientific community during this Congress are the result of seven years of work and the therapy protocol provides for the administration of Shiitake, Reishi and Agaricus Blazei Murrill. This scientifically documented work describes the case studies of 7 patients suffering from Hashimoto's thyroiditis for three years. Its results will also be published in the scientific journal International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms.

These results, as emerged from the reactions of the researchers present at the Congress, highlight that the benefits provided by Medicinal Mushrooms make it a rational treatment with which to deal with this pathology.

What is the relationship between official drug therapy and these results? Conventional medicine uses the oral administration of the hormone that is deficient in this pathology: that is, T4 (levo-thyroxine). On the contrary, the selected healing mushrooms (see below) take care of the recovery of the immune system and therefore of the resolution of the causes, without neglecting to deal with the symptoms. This mycotherapy treatment is also able to resolve inflammation of the thyroid and to support the production of hormones. For this reason, the International Congress expressed the hope that this natural therapy can spread in harmony with allopathic therapy and become a basic therapy in Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

This is why Medicinal Mushrooms work for Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Let me briefly explain the background. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune thyroid disease that causes hypothyroidism within a few months. Hypothyroidism, a key symptom, is produced by an autoimmune attack by the immune system that attacks the thyroid just as if the thyroid were an enemy! First of all, the immune system is altered, attacking the 'innocent victim', that is the thyroid.
This is the key to research for the clinical study from which these results originated, that is, the resolution of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. In detail: the immune system produces autoimmune pathological antibodies against two molecules necessary for thyroid cells to produce thyroid hormones. They are pathological autoimmune autoantibodies, respectively against the higher values than those normally tolerated by the body of TPO (thyroid peroxidase) and TG (thyroglobulin AAB).
The protocol used and presented for the treatment of this pathology consists in three mushrooms belonging to Mycotherapy: Shiitake, Reishi and Agaricus blazei Murrill. These Medicinal Mushrooms are effective in healing the immune system. Research shows that after 3-6 months administration of these three mushrooms, in the form of food supplements, self-aggression against the thyroid gland first decreases and then resolves. This is demonstrated by the elimination of anti-TPO auto-antibodies and anti-TG auto-antibodies. The thyroid, having eliminated these auto-antibodies, starts to produce thyroid hormones T3 and T4 in a normal way.
As a result, hypothyroidism is cured.

Colleagues, university professors and journalists were amazed that I am a doctor and not a university lecturer. I explained that research in Italy is alive also outside universities and in the field of natural medicine.
