Enjoy reading!

Dear Doctor, my name is Virna, I am 38 years old and I work as a waitress in a restaurant. I am an active and healthy person, but I suffer periodically from herpes on the lips. I know this is not a serious problem, but it is very annoying and often painful and itchy. Furthermore, it is unpleasant, especially for me because I work in contact with customers and I must always take care of personal hygiene: this problem, which generally appears on my upper lip, stops me from living serene interpersonal relationships. I’ve noticed that it happens more frequently when I am overworked or when I have loads to do. What can I do to prevent it? Are there any natural remedies that can help me get rid of herpes once and for all?

Dear Virna,

first of all, thank you for the trust you have placed in me. I can reassure you immediately: cold sores are a very common problem, but fortunately mycotherapy, the treatment with medicinal mushrooms, is a solution and gives excellent results.

It’s all the fault of a virus: cold sores are caused by a virus, Herpes simplex 1 (HSV-1), which has a particular characteristic: after causing the first infection, it apparently goes away, but in actual fact it takes refuge inside the neurons, the cells that make up the nerves. The body's antiviral defences, in fact, fail to attack the virus and eliminate it. If, even after some time, the immune system is weak, due to stress, an illness, temporary vulnerability for the menstrual cycle, fragility of the skin following intense exposure to the sun, the virus can return to attack. The real cause of the disease, therefore, is a weak immune system. Herpes simplex is only the agent that brings this out.

The symptoms

Generally, Herpes simplex causes an infection that affects the mouth, but sometimes the nose is the affected part. In both cases, it starts with the appearance of itching and redness, followed by annoying serum-filled blisters, which give way to small scabs when they break open.

The most suitable mushrooms

To decrease the number of episodes and limit the problem, I recommend using two mushrooms, which work both on the causes and on the symptoms: Reishi and Shiitake. Both increase the antiviral immune defences, preventing new attacks by the virus: if the immune system is strong, the dormant virus inside the neurons cannot take over and cause the typical symptoms.

In some cases, it is also worth adding Cordyceps: it prevents the microorganism from reproducing and triggering a recurrence.

Moreover, all these remedies also act against Herpes zoster (Shingles) and Genital herpes, in addition to having many other useful properties. To find out more why not read my latest book "Healing with Medicinal Mushrooms".

The ideal dosage is to take 2 grams of each mushroom per day, for at least three months.
