With the heat and the start of the holidays it’s time to sunbathe.
But the sun can also be a problem.

The Query

Ada of Senigallia writes to me:

Last year my suntan was not even, I had a dark face and shoulders while my legs remained pale ... It’s so annoying, the same thing happens every year! My beautician told me to take Reishi to tan my body more evenly. Is it true that Reishi can also prevent me from getting sunburnt?

The Reply

Dear Ada,
What can I say?
Your beautician has given you excellent advice!
Probably she too, has tried this precious remedy herself.
This information is not easily found in books.
Reishi (and also Agaricus blazer Murril) makes a suntan more even because, in addition to other functions, it also stimulates this particular defence mechanism of the skin.
In order to be well protected from sunlight, the skin needs to bring melanin to the surface, from the deep layers (the pigment of the tan).
In addition, Reishi also protects the skin from other problems created by the sun: problems such as sunburn, dry skin and free radicals.
The variety and richness of active ingredients present in Reishi make it a complete remedy.

What are the active ingredients?

Adenosine, which is an excellent vasodilator, allows more fluids to flow towards the skin, thus keeping it softer and hydrated.
Anti-inflammatory terpenes, with efficacy comparable to that of conventional drugs, protect the skin from redness and sunburn.
The enormous wealth of antioxidants contained in Reishi and Agaricus protect collagen from the attack of free radicals produced by the sun which accelerate aging.

These are the reasons why Reishi and Agaricus promote tanning and also preserve health!
